The Aumann Classic 2010

We're gearing up for the Aumann Classic this weekend. All I can say is WOW!!! What a line-up!! There is simply "something here for everyone".
The auction is taking place at the American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville, IL. LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! The members of the museum have been hard at work at getting ready for us. We really appreciate all of the hard work they've done. It's been our pleasure in meeting them and working with them.
Drop offs start tomorrow and I'm sure it will be busy the next couple of days.
This organization is constantly working within the community and trying to better their organization.
In addition to the awesome collection of tractors there is the collection of signs that will be selling first on Saturday. I'm making my wish list now.

We'll be having a social on Friday evening at 5pm. Please come and see us and visit for awhile.

Happy Father's Day to all of those wonderful fathers and to-be fathers. You have a hard job and we appreciate all you do.

How did you start collecting farm toys???

Have you often wondered how people got started on a hobby like collecting Farm Toys? I have. It simply amazes me sometime the extent of these collections. Hearing the stories often makes me smile since the start usually came from a young boy’s childhood. There is no sweeter memory than grandpa on his tractor plowing the fields or harvesting the crops. As adults these men would desire a symbol of that distant past and turn to the farm toy model of that tractor. My own husband has started collecting some farm toys that replicate what his father and his grandfathers had when he was growing up. I hope to one day pass them down to my boys.
The Toy Farmer magazine features a collector and his/her collection. The people they interview are honored and proud that their collection is being featured. Not for bragging rights but simply to share the joy of collecting. They gather often and even have their own groups. Even for the guys who make a living out re-selling the farm toys they always have their own little stash put away that has special meaning to them. The “Cream of the Crop” you could say.
Let’s hear your story of how you started…..send your story to jodi@aumannauctions.com or post it to our blog aumannauctions.blogspot.com Pictures are welcome. Submissions will be posted to the Aumann Auctions, Inc. blog page.

I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders. I've mailed in all of our submissions for this years Confrence and Show Marketing Competition. This has been a great learning experience for me. I'm going to get a head start next year. Heck, I'm already thinking of what auctions I will be submitting next year.

We have some awesome auctions this summer. We'll be Ohio, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Minnesota and Michigan.

If any follower of this blog comes up to the cashier at one of our auctions thru the month of June to August and says they heard about the auction thru the blog, I'll buy one the first person lunch. Just bring a copy of this post of the blog with you.

What a wonderful weekend!!! We had three auctions on Saturday. Plus, Saturday was National Auctioneer Day. What a way to celebrate.
We had the honor to donate our time and services to a great organization and their cause. Vision Way Christian School had their benefit dinner and auction to raise funds for teachers salaries. The community of Taylorville donated wonderful items for the live and silent auction. We hope that the money from this event helps support the wonderful teachers and school of Vision Way. Special mention to Matt Corso, Matt is a wonderful giver or his time and talents. God blessed him with many and Aumann Auctions was proud to see his efforts pay off for a cause so dear to his family.
This week we have two online only auctions running until April 25th. Farm toys and train accessories. Check out the website to bid.
If you all are looking for a new home in the Shelbyville area don't forget about our auction on April 23. The Syfert property in Shelbyville is a beautiful home with great ammenities. It's a horse owner's dream. Giddy Up!! We'll also be selling some equipment at the home site on Saturday April 24th at 10am. We'll have food there of course so come happy and hungry.
Kurt is out in Overland Park at the National Auctioneers Headquarters for a committee meeting. What a great organization and a great group of members. They really care about their craft and how to help one another.

Back to the grind

We made it back to Illinois. CAI 2010 was a great learning experience. We gained new ideas and shared some our practices with fellow auctioneers. Auctioneers helping Auctioneers, HORRAY!!! If there are any auction professionals out there that are on the fence about attending CAI, I simply say "Don't Wait". This is an investment in your future and the future of this industry that we love. The contacts that you make open doors to possibilities that you never knew existed.
